We're Officially Locked Up

It's been a long while since I last updated the blog. I've been extremely busy at work, and went to 3 countries within 1 month for work. For someone who has very serious motion sickness, this is not a very pleasant thing. After all these, I am sick as a dog.

There hasn't been a huge progress, but believe it or not, we are officially locked up as of today. We've got walls, doors, bath tubs delivered...blah blah blah... Very happy and words from different tradesmen are we are looking at 4 more weeks to finish and I take that as best scenario and add 2 weeks stuff-ups.

Bricks are done and Cables are in

Now that I know Winnie my niece is checking on my progress all the way from Paris, there is more reason for update!

Brickies have finished their job! A good 40th birthday present for Craig - we've got cables yesterday. Although the electrician put the metrebox on the wrong wall, it didn't upset us too much as he's going to move it. A progress is a progress!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

The electrician didn't come as planned, so cable guy is delayed also. Then, we don't have bricks to finish off the house! More to be delivered tomorrow though. Enough of bad news, the good news is "We've got an Entry!". The eave is finishing soon too.

Bricks halfway

Long time no blog. Lots of rain in Sydney didn't help with the building either. We are very happy with our second lot of brickies - husband and wife team from Central Coast and they are really nice. And they are doing a very nice job also. If it keeps dry a another week, we will be able to finish the bricks!

And Electricians are coming in tomorrow morning!

We've got roof before the bricks

After one week being away in Tasmania, we came back to see a roof! Going away in the second week of school holidays was meant to be relaxing but we (in fact the builder) had issues accessing our site through the "shared" carriageway. The neighbour decided to park their car there to block the builder's delivery truck (MY bricks, MY bricks!)on Friday July 9th - the day before we left for Tasmania, so the second lot of bricks were not able to be delivered. If I ever have to move again, I will make sure we're never, never, never going into battleaxe again. Some email exchanges happened between the neighbour, builder and us while we were away and I hope the neighbour will come to the understanding that there is no turning back and we are building a house there and it's a common carriageway to share. Anyway, here is a picture of the roof. The weather was not very nice today so the picture doesn't look too good. We'll go back on the weekend to take more.

We've got a Garage (roofless at the moment)

We had a look at the site over the weekend - not really a surprise, but we've got a garage. The blend of the bricks looks really nice and warm and that's what we were after anyway, so we are really happy. Next steps are gutters, facia, roof tiles and the house bricks of course.

Garage is UP!

The brick layers started working on Monday and here is the garage. The mortar is supposedly off white and what I saw was brown! I was in a bit of panic and rang the supervisor. You know what he said? "Jasmine, it IS off white and it takes some time for the mortar to dry. You've got to wait." I was so embarrassed.
