A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Knock Knock. Who's there?

SLAB!

WE'VE A SLAB! WE'VE A SLAB!!

That's right and I can't seem to repeat it enough. We have a slab. It was finished yesterday and we had a little look this morning but not enough time to take a picture. Will take the picture this weekend.

Concreter on Strike

OK, it's been 4 weeks since the site was cut and we still haven't got the slab. The concreter is not getting his act together. Site Supervisor had to escalate the situation to the construction manager but clearly SS did his best and we can only wait. They finally had the metal bits done end of last week and signed off by the engineer and the certifier. We didn't have a chance to check on it during daytime so don't have a picture to show. SS said that concreter planned to pour the concrete Monday morning (this morning) but he was frank that he didn't really believe the concreter after all this, but I think it will get it done this week anyway. ... I am too optimistic, I know.
EDIT - pictures.

Pipes are in

Long time no post. We had some issues with the excavator not being able to cut the rocks enough, hence concreting is delayed. Everything seems to be sorted now, the piers are all done (didn't bother to count them as there are so many) and the pipes were laid yesterday. According to the SS, they should be able to put the metal and the pods in later this week or early next week.

Construction has officially started

OMG OMG. Construction officially started on Tuesday, 23 March 2010. And no portaloo or signage so I didn't get any warnings.

I decided to ring the supervisor to check on things yesterday as Wednesday was supposed to be the excavation date and he told me the site was already excavated on Tuesday. And piers are coming in on Friday and I will be taking a day off to meet up with the supervisor onsite and check on the piers also.

I am still shaking and couldn't even believe this is happening.

Here is the picture of last week.

And yesterday!

New Proposed Date - Fingers Crossed

OK, the date was proposed to March 19th with the previous post. I thought that was bad, then received the new updated date (March 29th) from the snail mail without warning was more upsetting. I told myself to calm down and sent a nice non aggressive email to the builder about the disappointment.

Received a reasonably positive response in the morning and was provided with the site supervisor's details. Being me, I rang the supervisor right away trying to organise a meet and greet. The supervisor told me the reason for delay - they were only able to book the suitable exclavation machine for Wednesday 24th due to rocks on the block. This reason sounds better than me having too many upgrades. ;)

Now, weather forecasting is looking good for next week. I am getting my fingers and toes and hubby's wonky toes crossed.

Site Start Delay

OK, the builder said we had too many upgrades and changes after colour appointment and because our file was constantly being worked on, they will need 10 more days before they can touch the site. The new start date will be March 19th and our site supervisor is yet to be assigned so I am still working with the colour consultant who is very nice. When I was on the phone with her, she felt bad about the delay but I said to her, knowing how things were going with us, we would be happy if they can start digging sometime this month and she was quite certain that it WILL start in a week or two.
